Pollution Solution Fourth grade students created hands on activities and presentations for other students based on the information they researched and learned throughout the year in science class. Blog Conestoga Reading In Motion 2024 Conestoga Summer Reading 2024-2025 SUMMER READING CHALLENGES We have two reading challenges for students this summer. The first is for students going into Kindergarten up to students going into 3rd grade. The other is for the students going into 4th-6th grade. Picnic Basket Raffle Please think about donating some items for the picnic basket raffle. See the attached information. May 17th Early Dismissal All Penn Manor schools will have an early dismissal on Friday, May 17. An older version of the district calendar listed the early dismissal date as Friday, May 10. That date is now a regular school day. Incubating Eggs Thank you to the PMEF for funding an exciting opportunity for our 3rd grade students. Students were able to learn about the process for incubating eggs for chicks and ducks. Cylo Visit Cylo visited Conestoga to kick-off the Reading challenge. Students who complete the reading challenge will earn free tickets to the Stormers. Family Picnic.docx End of Year Picnic- Basket Raffle BASKET RAFFLE Thursday, May 23 rd from 5pm-7pm WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are excited to announce our upcoming basket raffle and we need your help. Each grade has a theme for their basket. These baskets will be raffled off during our end of year family picnic scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd from 5pm-7pm. Your generous donations are needed to help fill these baskets. Many items can be found inexpensively at places like The Dollar Store or Five Below. At the picnic, you may purchase raffle tickets for any grade’s basket! GRADES and THEMES Kindergarten- Arts and Crafts First Grade- Baking Second Grade- Games Third Grade- Gardening Fourth Grade- Camping Fifth Grade- Movie Night Sixth Grade- Summer Fun *Please drop your donations off in the main office by May 15 th . Talent Show We had a wonderful talent show here at Conestoga. Fourteen acts performed for students and family members. There was a dance for all to get involved in at the end with a surprise performance from some teachers. 5th Grade Robot Programming For the past several weeks, 5th grade students have worked on programming their spheros to finish a maze. As a culmination of this project, the 5th grade shared their experiences with younger students. On a Roll Celebration Today we recognized 10 students for being On a Roll at Conestoga and demonstrating the characteristics we celebrate at Conestoga Respecting ourselves and others Own our choices Learn to be our best Look for chances to be kind We also celebrated our top student for the Heart Challenge and the school raising over $2000 for the American Heart Association. We recognized all the students who sumbitted a design for the yearbook cover and the winner of the contest. Students were also recognized by their teachers for doing great work and participated in fun games. Science Factory The Science Factory was at Conestoga all week to give all students the opportunity to participate in different activities. This opportunity was through a grant from the Penn Manor Education Foundation and was organized by Mrs. Fellenbaum. 2024 TalentShow PermissionForm Talent Show Calling all students with a special talent to participate in Conestoga’s annual talent show. Be creative! All acts are welcome from singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, etc. Complete the attached permission slip and return it to your teacher by Friday, March 15, 2024. Prefer an online form, please scan the QR code to register online. This year’s show will be held the afternoon of Friday, April 12, 2024. As a final practice, a dress-rehearsal will be performed for the morning kindergarten class on Friday, April 12, 2024. SKM_C550i24022711470.pdf DONUTS WITH GROWN UPS Wednesday, March 20, 2024 the PTO invite students to come to the Commons with a grown- up to read a book while enjoying donuts and milk. Please make sure to RSVP. The flyer with the information was sent home with kids and you can also read it on the form here . Lunch & Learn Beginning in February, each of our seven elementary schools will welcome preschool children and their parents/guardians to story time, crafts, lunch and a visit to the school library to check out books that will be returned the following month. Lunch & Learn is designed to familiarize future students and their parents with our schools so they become comfortable with the school setting prior to their first day. Lunch & Learn activities will be held from February through May. The May events will be held in the evening, but all others are over lunchtime. Attached is a printable schedule that includes phone numbers for each school. Please call to reserve a spot and confirm the time of each Lunch & Learn. Printable schedule You may attend at your home school or any other elementary school in Penn Manor. Siblings are welcome, and a parent/guardian must accompany all children. PTO FUN RUN INFO Conestoga Families, The PTO is hard at work planning our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. Our annual Fun Run will take place on Friday May 3 . The students love this memorable event, they show their support for our school by running laps and participating in activities. This year it will be bigger, and better than ever! Students will have chances to win incredible prizes and experiences they will never forget! Along with local businesses, we are asking families to help raise money for our school leading up to the celebratory Fun Run. The funds raised will go directly to our students through instructional supplies, playground equipment, field trips, assemblies, family events, and many other school wide programs. In the spring your child will bring home a packet of information explaining how to set up an easy- to-use online platform.
